WEST STRUCK
WEST STRUCK is a self-directed project centered on Gharbzadegi, a 1960s Persian term translated as “West-struck-ness,” “Westoxification,” and “Euromania”. A polarising term marking a period of cultural disruption and debate around modernity and identity.
Structured as an exhibition, the work draws on archival material from the 1960s and 1970s to examine a period of cultural tension that continues to shape contemporary Iran. Typography combines a traditional tilted script with a modern roman serif, placing divergent systems in direct relation.
